We started the year off in English with The Island diary entries. We learn't how to write good quality diary entries and imagined ourselves stuck on a deserted island. It was quite an interesting topic and i enjoyed the creativeness of the activity. In term 2 we had to do a book report on a book called Parvana. It was a really good book and I liked reading it. Also with the book report we did other little activities like diary entries and character reports. Included in term 2 we also did a small unit on persuasive text. At the start of term 3 we learn't about Myths and Legends which meant we had an assessment task which involved a diagram with the setting, narrator, characters of a myth. The next part of the assessment task was to write a modernised version of the myth you were learning about. We are now studying poetry and learning about how to write poems and how writers write poems from different perspectives. Every week we have one period of English put towards reading in the library which is usually a Tuesday or Thursday afternoon. We also have weekly spelling tests which I think are very fun and challenging. We are going on an excursion to the Albury library museum soon to meet an author which should be interesting. Below is my article based on returning from The Island assignment.
